Guess the truth hurts
When this happened and caused such a partisan uproar, I told my hubby that Gramm was correct on many levels. There is daily economic doom & gloom in the media and there has been for quite some time. Secondly, people in other countries find themselves with real food shortages, a lack of potable water, and (in Haiti) eating dirt cookies because they can't afford a small bag of rice to sustain them.
Here, although the economy isn't even technically in recession, the sky is falling. Yet shortly after Gramm was skewered for this remark the new iphone went on sale and thousands of (economically depressed?) people lined up to get it. How do we measure economic misery here?
That's how I see it.
Annie, great comment, thank you
Apparently Democrat Sen Schumer responsible for run on IndyMac
It long been rumored in Washington that the most dangerous place in Washington was the space between Schumer and a TV camera.
We can't jail him--unlike anyone else who would have done what he did. He's beyond a disgrace and if Republicans do not start pushing THE TRUTH about the Democrat Congress and the idiots who have run it and us into the ground in the last two years, I don't know what to say. I could produce good commericals to get these people--Dean and that ND senator and Countrywide, with no reporting by the mainstream media and now Schumer and IndyMac. Democrats are still opposing drilling and nuclear energy AND they now want to add 10 cents a gallon on gas. Could we please hire some excellent producers and writers who can get to the heart of an issue? I think this election has GOT to be as much about Pelosi and that Nevada dork as about Obama.
The Congress's approval ratings were recently in the single digits...waaaaay below Bush's. Couldn't we please start using this?
