Was President Bush's "appeasement" Comment a Trap Set For the Dems?

Many of you are aware of the flack President Bush took from the Obama campaign when he mentioned in a speech that we can't be appeasers when it comes to the likes of Iran. The Obama campaign and many ranking Democrats were out and about squawking in anger.
This has lead some to believe that this may have been a trap. If karl Rove were still with the administration, you'd here some blaming him.
Today's question is, do you think this was a trap?
Add your two cents... :)

Obama sure made a fool of himself
I dunno whether Bush was intentionally setting a trap, but the Obama camp sure made fools of themselves!! If Obama does not support talking to terrorists, then why would he have thought those comments were directed at him??? Obama did not live up to his reputation for keeping his cool- he (through his campaign and surrogates) acted more like a hypersensitive diva.
Actually I am not sure how Obama got this level headed reputation. If you maintain a calm tone of voice with throwing out baseless accusations and demonizing the other side - does that somehow make you diplomatic?
Perhaps Obama thinks that because Bush has low approval ratings any attack on him is good politics, but actually he is just drawing attention to Bush saying something that makes sense. I have generally disliked Bush, but on that comment I agree with him 100%. I am even momentarily proud that he is our President!
If it was a criticism of Obama - it was an effective one and could not have worked better and I hope the President makes many other such criticisms!
