Survey USA Polls Show Huckabee and Edwards Would Be the Strongest Vice-Presidential Picks

Survey USA recently did a series of polls in key battleground states to determine who might be the strongest Vice-Presidential running mates for both John McCain and Barack Obama. The results might surprise you.

The polls found that former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee would generally be the strongest pick for McCain, and by far John Edwards would be strongest for Obama. Take a look at these numbers. They certainly make you stop and think:

In Ohio

In California

In New Mexico

In Virginia

In Pennsylvania

These numbers are very compelling. It certainly jumps out at you that Huckabee is right at the top in every state against most combinations. He would definitely galvanize Christian Conservatives who just love him - both to vote for him and to get out and work their hearts out to see him elected Vice-President. That could be huge in a number of very close states.

The other thing that jumps out on these charts is how strong an Obama/Edwards ticket would be - at least according to these polls. In all five states, Obama/Edwards would defeat any GOP combination - and by a sizeable margin in four of the five. I would not be surprised to see Obama select Edwards if these kinds of polling numbers keep showing up. It will be interesting to see if more polls like this come out in the weeks to come.

John Edwards speaks for the

John Edwards speaks for the average working American more pointedly and eloquently than ANY presidential candidate I have heard since 2000. Better even than Hillary. BHO is a fool if he doesn't pick him. He also did the same for BHO's nomination that Charlie Crist did for John McCain -- saved his chances just when he looked to be going down for the count.

Mike Huckabee speaks well for the average working American too. His ability to speak to and for them is, to me, much more important than his evangelical appeal, although that is also there.

NOTE: In Virginia, according to YOUR poll, Joe Lieberman does best -- NOT Mike Huckabee. Just thought I'd mention it.
