PA: McCain Wll Lose State if Strategy Is Not Changed
When will the people of Pennsylvania finally have the opportunity to meet and greet John McCain without putting up or raising thousands upon thousands of dollars? Where is the grass roots campaign of 2000 that worked so well, and had the passion which is lacking in 2008.
A PA County GOP Committee Chairman succinctly answered this question after he received an email that county McCain supporters were to donate $50.00 a piece in the hopes of reaching the $1,000 mark in order to buy "Yard Signs!!??" The Chairman went on to say that in larger counties where there are fat cats who can donate large sums, big money is lacking in smaller rural counties such as his own. This gentlemen stated that they relied on having yard signs to hand out at summer county events, and that his particular county yards would be void of John McCain signs due to the ludicrous request from the McCain Campaign.
I agree. The money wells are running dry (even devoted McCainiacs are maxed out in donations according to FEC rules and regulations,) and average Americans are not willing to hand over $50.00 for yard signs to the potential GOP nominee who they do not have the cash to meet even on a good day - not to mention the financial straights many US citizens are in due to the trickle down affect of the high oil prices, and job losses etc. Oh yes, I agree with this Chairman's assessment -There is something not quite right about the strategy of the campaign, for rural PA anyway, and undoubtedly many other areas
The strategists of John McCain's Campaign are in serious need of examining not only the fat cats who are being maxed out, and do a little more focusing on that Straight Talk Bus taking some rural routes through Pennsylvania where Mr. Obama made his infamous remark that rural Pennsylvanians hide behind their guns and religion. Many would be in agreement that these people from rural Bible Belt PA will NOT vote for Obama, but may, also, stay home in November because they do not KNOW John McCain. And by the way, has anyone seen recent polling in PA between McCain and Obama. One poll had McCain trailing by twelve (12) points.
John McCain's character, dignity, honor, strength, experience, and love of our nation are not a hard sell to Americans. We simply need to tweak our marketing technique to get the word out to everyone regarding WHO this man is, including the Bible Belt of rural PA.
