Obama Favored Decriminalization of Marijuana Laws in 2004 - Video

Here is video from 2004 when Barack Obama said he favored "decriminalization of our marijuana laws." He distinguishes between "decriminalization" and "legalization" of marijuana. But, of course, anyone with a brain knows that to "decriminalize" marijuana will result in there being no deterrent to keep people from using it freely. This is one of many issues where Barack Obama will be shown to be the far-left liberal that he truly is.

So do I. why should smoke be

So do I. why should smoke be against the law ? Laws against spliff are the silliest thing I know of since Hula Hoops.

John Mccain should take the same view.

Legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana is not a "far-left" view. The war on marijuana has been a war on our children. Throwing people in jail for this harmless plant is outrageous. Do the research. Tylenol kills 800 people a year, marijuana kills noone. People should choose marijuana for a headache because of its safety and efficacy.

Ending the Drug War IS a conservative value.

The War on Drugs ia a war on our freedom. The War on Drugs is a war on our children and a war on ourselves. The war on drugs must be ended. Decriminalize marijuana and make it available with ID at certain retailers. This would remove 80% of all drug arrests and return 60% of the nonviolent otherwise law abiding marijuana smokers in our prisons back to their families and jobs. They would pay taxes instead of living off taxpayers in prison, not mention prison is a very scary and dangerous place.

The "hard" drugs should be handled by the medical community. But, let's try marijuana first and work on softening our draconian punishments later. In tucson, we had a 30 year old sentenced to 26 years in prison for Cocaine. 26 years, that's 21 more years than the guys smuggling AK-47's and Grenades in Phoenix last week. It's unbelievable, out-of-control, and Anti-Conservative. We all know that crystal meth (Adderall) and Heroin (Dilaudid, Percocet etc) are both availble with a prescription. If we allowed addicts to get precriptions, the addict could recieve health care and treatment as well as ingest a safe drug during their addiction. Less money, less deaths, less crime, and less imprisonment- All conservative values.

Let's free up the cops and the prisons for real criminals causing real crime.

John Mccain, do the right thing, End this war on marijuana on your first day!
