THE MEDIA GETS IT WRONG....AGAIN...MASS MOUTHING OFF
Funny that no one's yet commented on the strange inclination of the media to assert that John McCain is at a disadvantage because of all the excitement and interest currently going to the Democrats. Hmmmm...as I see it, during this period of being "at a disadvantage," John McCain keeps on improving in just about every new poll. Both in his favorability ratings and his matchups against Hillary and "Obama" he has increased his standing. The Rasmussen Reports have our guy's favorability rating today at 55 % and his matchups at 50 % to 41 % against "Obama," 49 % to 42 % against Hillary. All three of these numbers have risen continuously since "Super Tuesday."
More noteworthy than these are the state by state counts. John McCain now routs BHO in most Southern states -- precisely those states in which BHO scored huge victories over Hillary. As for the "battleground" states, McCain leads comfortably in Florida and Virginia, by 3 to 4 points in Michigan, by six in Ohio, and by 2 in Pennsylvania. McCain even leads in Washington, a state that George W. Bush didn't come close to winning either time. Lastly, John McCain matches well against BHO even in my Massachusetts. And all of the above is the way things stand now, during McCain's "time of disadvantage," and with no vice president pick to help sew up a Michigan, a Pennsylvania, perhaps even both PLUS a Minnesota.
It is politic for McCain supporters to be very VERY nervous about the outcome in November. Still, if McCain commands such support despite being outspent by 3 to 1 and 5 to 1, despite his being of less interest to the media than the Pit Dog Fight going on in the other camp, how's it going to look in November when all is finally in place and fully lit up ? Hmmm. I'm thinking 400 electoral votes.
P.S. >> have you noticed how independents who LOVE America have gravitated to John McCain, whereas those who think our country is the cause of the world's problems have moved to the Democrat side ? Can it POSSIBLY hurt us to be seen as the candidate who best personifies Love of America ? (Unfair to Hillary, perhaps, but until she proves otherwise she's not going to be our opponent. Indeed, her problem is that she's something of a centrist -- including a love of America, in a party whose base continues to feel otherwise.)
Love of America sounds so "square." But it is REAL. I am in no way -- NO WAY AT ALL -- one of those "conservatives" who want the Republican party to stand to the right of Attila the Smurf; yet I love the country to which my ancestors came in search of freedom. And found it. Freedom that warriors like John McCain give their entire lives to defending!
With love of America on our side, we can afford to be "at a disadvantage" and still win..!!
