McCain VP
An excellent choice for John McCain's VP is former Michigan Governor, John Engler. He was elected to three terms, is a solid conservative, has executive experience to compliment John McCain's legislative experience. Mr. Engler has an excellent record in Michigan, especially compared to the current Governor. John Engler on the ticket could put Michigan in play for the Republicans, which could make a McCain Presidency more likely.

J.C. Watts
How about J.C. Watts? He is a solid conservative black, a former professional football player, and young! A choice for Watts would be thinking outside the box.
Watts Would be Great
Justinian,
I think J.C. Watts would also be a great choice. He is very conservative, but may not be quite as good a communicator as Jindal. Both would be great choices in my view.
Jindal is a great guy!
He would make a good VP. He has fought against tough special interests and corruption in LA and won, so he deserves recognition.
The interesting thing about Bill Krystal's article if you read more of it is if a McCain/Romney ticket was pitted against Obama/Clinton. McCain lost by 6 points; whereas, if McCain was pitted against either Obama or Clinton alone, he beat them. This underscores the importance of a viable VP pick. Obviously, Romney represents the Republican status quo, and that kind of candidate will not fly this election cycle. McCain needs to pick someone who can relate with the middle class voter. Jindal does this, and he represents change that Americans are seeking - an end to special interests, ineptness, and corruption. My only concern is his inexperience.
