McCain Advocates Conditions-Based Iraq Decisions with CNN's Wolf Blitzer - Video 7/25/08

Here is video of Sen. John McCain discussing the war with CNN's Wolf Blitzer yesterday, July 25, 2008.

NOTE: Much ado is being made of Sen. McCain saying that Obama's 16 month timetable "is a pretty good timetable," but if you listen to the whole context it is clear McCain adds that it must be based on "conditions on the ground." That is what he has always maintained. The press is trying to spin this as McCain "agreeing" with Obama, when the context shows McCain is right where he has always been -- opposing predetermined timetables and advocating basing any decisions on conditions on the ground.

McCain Calls Obama Timeline for Iraq Politically Motivated
by Associated Press
Sunday, July 27, 2008

WASHINGTON — Presidential contender John McCain says that his challenger Barack Obama decided on a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq based on political expediency.

McCain, the likely Republican nominee, said in a broadcast interview that he is not questioning Obama’s patriotism when criticizing the Democrat’s policies for the war. Obama has called for a withdrawal over 16 months.

McCain said Obama made that statement mostly to win the Democratic presidential nomination.
