Is the Liberal Media Involved in an Offensive Against McCain?

I don't know about you, but it sure seems to me that the liberal media is waging an offensive against Senator McCain. We've seen a couple of hit pieces this past week, which are pretty brazen in their liberal bias.
Today's question is, what do you think the motives are for what looks like an all out media offensive against John McCain?
What's your two cents? ;)

Media Bias
Could it be more obvious? Only the MSM could take a hypothetical statement and turn it in to a firm policy declaration. I am talking about the way they(MSM) are handling the 2013 speech and trying to twist McCain's statement about the Iraq war and how most of the troops would be home by 2013.
It's easy to find SAMPLES
They can take hypothetical rhetoric and turn it in to a time table for withdrawal. Majic!
So what ? We know this drill
So what ? We know this drill pretty well by now. The more brazen the media gets, the more the actual voters smell a rat.
I don't see that the media's drunk driving in the tank for BHO has cost Hillary Clinton one single vote. If anything it's made her voters angrier and more determined than ever.
In sum: voters know how to SMELL THE COFFEE. And how to judge spin for what it is being spun to.
Onward and upward, say I.
LAWDY, HEP ME!
I agree with THE_MASS_MOUTH! (there is a first for everything I suppose)
Media Bias - Failed to uncover 03/27/03 comment of BO Advisor
In a March 27, 2003 interview with an Oregon newspaper, retired Gen. McPeak, currently an Obama advisor said, "Who wants to volunteer to get cross-ways with us? We'll be there a century, hopefully. If it works right."

Can McCain Reform the Media?
It is ridiculous the way the media is trying to spin McCain predicting that he expects the Iraq war will be over by the end of his 1st term into McCain setting a timeline for withdrawal- as Obama actually does shift for political expedience, they want to imply that it is just what all politicians do.
Much of the media is in an inherently false position with McCain. They wrote about him glowingly for years.( I remember one Times article casually referring to him as John McCain- the man who should be President) but now their partisanship rears its ugly head & they see him as a threat. So how do they justify the radical difference in tone? They claim McCain has changed. He is no longer the man they once knew and loved - he has become this drastically different person. This is, of course, untrue. He is the same McCain - they just have a different agenda.
Now, admittedly, I am not checking to see if individual columnists have changed their treatment (though I expect they have and that a little research would reveal some major media flip flops) or if the Times and other publications are just favoring the more anti-McCain writers, and it is possible too that writers who were focused for years on McCain the maverick paid little attention to the fact he was still a Republican until he ran for President.
What I wonder is this: Can McCain - a man many of them probably like and admire - get them to transcend partisanship? Does unfairly attacking McCain ever tweak their conscience. I suspect it does. The NY Times smear piece about Vickie Ivens reportedly generated a lot of controversy among staff & many of them did not want it published. I wonder too - if some of the Pro-Obama writers/reporters, etc. forced to closely examine Obama- may begin to shrink from shilling for him everyday. I wonder if some of them might be won over by McCain in spite of themselves.

Re: Reforming the Media
Reformation of the media is a daily attempt by those organizations to survive. They could care less about the old style of reporting Who-What-When-Where-How.
They are multi-million dollar corporations and are willing to pander to the subscribers who pay the bills. A decrease in circulation means a decrease in ad revenues which is the lion's share of the bottom line.
The New York Times is losing subscribers which translates in to lower ad revenue.
They blame their failures on a bad economy over and over again in the story I linked to above. They don't seem to get the fact that it could be the content of their own reporting.
They will do anything they can to find the demographic they need to support the bottom line. In their current situation they feel that "The Left" is the most lucrative market for them to exploit for their own personal gain.
It's a matter of making a profit that just happens to fit their own ideology...At least that is what they are telling themselves.
Unfortunately for them ,as they try to expand their internet presence, WE got here first. We have the market share and they will have to earn it one story at a time.
McCain is his own worst enemy
OT
What is with him supporting the global warming crap?
India and China don't have enough of our jobs?
I used to be a luke warm supporter. Now I'm just indifferent to who wins the election.
No matter who gets in we will have a disaster on our hands. Might as well let the Ds get the blame for ruining the economy and starting a world war.
John will get my vote (I live in Illinois so it won't matter) but he will not get my support.
No he's not.
No he's not.
There is an alternative...
November seems a long way off. It should be an "interesting" election. My father-in-law is one of those Democrats who likes to vote for a Republican in the primary. He votes for one who he thinks would be the biggest problem for the Republicans. I find this practice to be very annoying, but such a reality in todays politics. It would be good to know what impact these type of votes had on picking John McCain for the Republican nomination. It may be best to restructure the party nominating process. Perhaps the Constitution Party has a workable model.
My father-in-law this weekend was saying he might even vote for McCain in November. This would be his first vote for a Republican presidential candidate in a general election. It would be my first vote against the Republican candidate. His reasoning is that he is disgusted with the fight between Obama and Clinton.
It seems odd that the Republican nominee would be so appealing to the Democrats and so much anathema to some of what was the party base.
He comes across as not a Republican at all. The closest thing to him on the Democrat side would be Lieberman who is a liberal in favor of the war effort. But McCain is like a Democrat in so many areas that the Lieberman analogy falls far short.
I hate to lose, but this year, loss is inevitable. I already lost when McCain gained enough delegates to clinch the nomination. I'll almost certainly be voting for Chuck Baldwin, Constitution Party in November. In the Republican primary (that hasn't reached my state yet) I'll be voting for just about anybody buy McCain. Both Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul are likely to be on the ballot. I'll pick one of them.
You can find me (as PanamaJohn) at http://JohnMcCain.dominates.us
So go ahead already, do it.
So go ahead already, do it. The Republican party does not exist to stroke the funny bones of extremists. It exists to appeal to the great middle, the millions & millions of voters who do not think politics every nano-second, who just want solutions that work for their normal, every day lives. And is NORMAL EVERYDAY does not satisfy you, go ahead an invent a new species. Why not ? You're already fuming in your own Private Idaho...
Slow the Spread of Socialism
Panama,
It turns out that John's golbal warming policies depend on China and India adopting similar policies. Fat chance.
So the choice is - the slow road to socialism or the fast one.
I'll take the slow road.
Besides if Obama gets in I expect a conflagration in the Middle East, we may get one in any case. Question is do I want a clueless Dem or McCain at the helm?
Besides John has looked into Bussard Fusion. Good for him.
hmmmm....
"it sure seems to me that the liberal media is waging an offensive against Senator McCain. We've seen a couple of hit pieces this past week, which are pretty brazen in their liberal bias."
Yes, but you ain't seen nuttin yet, b-b-b-baby!
No we haven't seen the real
No we haven't seen the real deal yet. By October the media will have John McCain looking & sounding like Donald Rumsfeld meets Dick Cheney in the duck hunting blind. They'll paint him The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (i.e. no earmarks, no farm subsidies), the Warmonger who wants to bomb Iran into the stone age. You name it, they will say it over and over and over and over all the while extolling BHO as the greatest man ever to walk the earth since Jesus Christ, the Second Coming of Abraham Lincoln -- hey they're both from Illinois, right? Who knows? Maybe it's karma. Barack H. Lincoln. Or Abraham Obama. You'll see.
Hey -- the media destroyed Hillary, their former favorite. Trying to blow away John McCain will be a no-brainer for them.
Wrong
McCain and the media have had a lovefest since his republican party "defection" and have treated him with quite a bit of respect. McCain/Kennedy earned him some favorable views with the media with the exception of Lou Dobbs. As for liberal media, I think it's just not that biased with the exception of Keith Olbermann and The Huffington Post. Of course as a liberal, I have no problem with a liberal media except for Keith Olbermann, he annoys me.
GIVE THE DNC EXACTLY WHAT THE DESERVE!
THE problem with how the DNC treated 18 MILLION of us is that they NEED our SUPPORT to ACCOMPLISH a WIN! WELL GUESS WHAT! THEY are NOT GOING TO GET IT! THEY will get EXACTLY what the DESERVE a BIG FAT LOSS FOR Novemeber! John McCain is a moderate, some even claim a liberal in some views, he is NOT George Bush that is another LIE that the OBAMA CAMP and AXCELROD (I just threw up alittle) are trying to SELL! HRC was the REAL CANDIDATE for SOLUTIONS and CHANGE! WE were ROBBED of the process! I am DONE! NO OBAMA not this year, my shirts and signs "MCCAIN DEMOCRAT" are already being printed!
check out this site is growing also!

PreTjenE - Hillary Deserved Better
PreTjenE,
I have to agree with you about the way Hillary and Bill Clinton and those of you who supported her have been treated by the DNC. As a Republican watching from the sidelines, I was amazed that despite Hillary's far greater experience, and the way she won the large electoral states in the primaries, it was as if "the fix" was in for Obama. Both the media and the DNC big-wigs seem to have decided months ago that it had to be Obama. As beloved as Bill Clinton has been for Democrats, I never thought I would see the day they would be unceremoniously thrown over the side so quickly for someone with virtually no experience at all.
You are welcome here, and hopefully together we can help prevent a man whose whole purpose in life seems to be about building his own kingdom from becoming President. Just so you know, John McCain was not my first choice in this race, but he is a great man who has sacrificed for his country with great distinction. He does not have the golden tongue Obama has, but he has character and strength. He must be our next President - for the good of America.
you KNOW a MAN'S CHARACTER through his EYES!
I appreciate the support because I campaigned for Hillary Clinton in my state of Texas, and because we had both the Primaries and the Caucus vote I saw first hand what the Obama people were up to! Many of Hillary's supporters were elederly and voted in the primary but were unable to come back to caucus! I saw Obama supporters being bussed in literally! YET no one has challenged this. And African American church in my area had a huge cookout to FEED those voting for Obama! NOT for all Democrats, it was clearly racially motivated and also Clinton supporters even the black supporters felt unwelcome! THIS is NOT what this country is ABOUT. Martin Luther King Jr, would not have stood for such division. AND NOW they NEED us? Sorry. After what the DNC did, throwing out people speaking out for HRC I was appalled. We have to do this for future generations. I know McCain is capable of communicating across party lines. He was afterall a captive of one of the most dispicable regimes in HISTORY! The NORTH VIETNAMESE! He is very calm, and has a vast political career, unlike Obama. He wants the ECONOMY to be the FOCUS! Obama is more concerned with Africa's economy! Obama and the bleeding heart celebrities all think we need to take care of third world countries FIRST while we are at risk of becoming one! Few of us make the money that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie make! WE need TO SAVE AMERICANS FIRST! BEFORE AFRICA...sorry. My Uncle is retired Marine Corps. He was in Vietnam, I can only remember the stories as a youngster and told to "go play." I trust John McCain. I could see in his EYES that he truly felt bad for the Clintons. I could see the SMIRK on the Obama's faces, they are acting like they already WON the Presidency. Enough of the arrogance already. I am DONE. I am a McCain Democrat looking to HRC in 2012!
fastening
this is a fine example of whats going on with the obama supporters..
i fish at a local pier with several people..one whom is a black minister..he fishes daily and catches fish...large ones, ok..
his son and my friend are close..we hang out sometimes and talk..the obama came on the news and Trey(the ministers son) began to talk..he spoke for awhile and i listened..
i found out that the women of this black church are fasting..they are supposedly not going to eat till the obama wins the election..i want to make myself clear on this...Trey accidently spilled the words to me knowing that i dont care for the obama..
the women will not eat certain meals and at certain times till the obama is elected...i found it a little hard to believe at first but now im believing this. the fact is that they will eat only fish, something to do with a pact all the women have decided to do. they will eat fish and greens..Trey has a boat and goes out almost daily on it..ive seen the cooler and what he has in it and its usually full..another freind of mine went with him and they did pretty good..Trey didnt give my buddy his portion, he said it was for people less fortunate than him..it was for the people of his church..
ive heard the minister preach at the pier and know his views and some of what is going on..these people are taking drastic measures till the obama is elected..so i do believe that the blacks are busing people in to vote for obama..
dont take this lightly, they arent..im a little tired of hearing this minister preaching racially charged sermons on the pier and people are eating it up faster than he can spew these twisted ideas...
how can anyone counter these ideas that mccain is another GWB..its gonna be hard...
all im hearing about is people want their 'fair share'..they are wanting equality monetarily, compensation..they are believing that they DESERVE to have what others have without having to work for it..they are angry that a 300.00 stimulus check was handed out..they say it was a slap in the face...and the repubs are to blame for gas prices..its all about the economy not including that its a black man..it wouldnt matter to them if it were al sharpton theyd vote for him right now..
dont take this lightly...something has got to change adn they believe its this koolaide kid...
Fascinating Information
Todd,
Your experience does serve to illustrate what John McCain is up against. We just have to hope that a majority of Americans are going to be rational enough to look past the slogans and image to the substance of what direction Obama would take America. Then, we have to hope they will reject it. Thanks for sharing.
It's a cult mentality and it
It's a cult mentality and it is dangerous. Logical thinking voters won't buy into it, but many who listen only to the sound bites or video clips may and will.
The smears and insinuations must be confronted head on and countered with facts.
This is what I tell the Obamaites
Personally, I think that Obama is arrogant...and this will be his downfall amongst educated, well-rounded, mature and informed American voters:

I also believe that websites like the one listed below may ultimately determine why more and more Democrats will defect to John McCain's camp.
Unfortunately, there is little about Obama that a website like the one below says that can be refuted...that is, unless you've flunked Philosophy 101 in college,or never got to college in the first place.

What can be done?
Sooner or later all of us will have to reckon with our conscience and higher intellectual powers and when this occures we will invariably be forced to choose between either 'principle' or the physical attributes of the other candidate.
Which candidate is traveling down the wrong road on critical issues?
Which do you think will win out, come November? '
'Higher principles' or the 'physical' attributes of a particular candidate?
Predictably, older voters will vote in favor of 'principle'... obviously, because they are more concerned about what happens after death and the legacy they will leave behind.
In contrast, the younger voters, since they have more time left in life to recant, are more likely to be reckless and procrastinate with any decision in favor of principle, and will likely vote in favor of 'idealism'...
...and these are the young and youthful voters that Obama appeals to and also why a lot of us older folks see Obama as 'the Pied Piper of the niave'.
However, (which is the next question that begs itself): 'When does Barack's own conscience begin to bother him?'
Personally, I think Obama needs to start thinking about what he can do to 'remake' his image if he wants to win this election.
I'm not sure that he'll want to be that person he's beginning to look like against John McCain...who today represents everything that America stands for.
BUT, if Obama thinks he can win going the way he's headed, then let him go for it.
But, as for me and many like me who sit on the fence until election time in November, we'll still be thinking about having to live with ourselves long after this election is over in November and maybe these are the thoughts that the new young voters haven't entertained yet...
...and, there's still a lot that can happen between now and November...
...and, this probably means that Obama faces a huge political swamp ahead...one that he has created for himself by being too impetuous on some very important issues...
...which has already gotten him into trouble with some of the very wise old parents of the younger generation.
Media and McCain
In short. The far left media wants to pick the next President. Look what they have accomplished so far. If they are against you, watch out! Most uninformed people who watch the news soak all this up. It's only going to get worse.
The MSM is in the tank and has been
I campaigned for Hillary in PA and was sick by all the attempts by the Media and the DNC to force Hillary from the race. I am African American and I had to watch as that man turned my beloved Clintons into racists. Then he did it again with Pres. Bush and now its McCain and the Republicans. Let me tell you what I tell the DNC. The Republicans did not just discount 18 million voters. the Republicans did not take delegates from one candidate and give it to another. The Republicans did not try to scare us by using Roe vs Wade{like we are only women} or making the Republicans the boogy man. I am an adult and I do not believe in the boogy man. I also owe no party my vote or allegiance anymore because the DNC left us. They told us to stay home in November and we said why should we stay home we can vote for McCain. I am sick of the DNC and Obama and his wife. I sent my donation that I usually donate to the DNC to the RNC and will donate to McCain. Actually I plan to donate to a lot of down ticket Reps. Its time the DNC get what they got coming to them in November.
