John McCain POW Cellmate Bud Day Talks with Tom Brokaw - Video

Here is a very moving conversation between the most militarily decorated living American, Bud Day, and Tom Brokaw. Bud Day is a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, including being a POW in Vietnam, where he was a cellmate of Sen. John McCain. Day talks about honor, service, and gives some insight into those terrible days as a POW. This video ran on NBC in November 2007.

Note: He begins talking about his time as a POW at around the 7:12 mark of the video.

Bud Day

Bud Day is a remarkable man. He is so low key. It makes me respect those that walk among us us that do not demand respect, but to the contrary, they quietly earn it without fanfare or a sense of entitlement. They are who they are and that's that. My Dad was Navy WWII veteran and fought in many battles in the Pacific. He never discussed it or expected any special consideration for it. He just worked very hard and raised his family.

John Kerry(Not so much!) I had to throw that in..... :)

Perfectly Said

Nelsa,
Your remarks are perfectly said. My Dad was also a Navy World War II Veteran of the Pacific, participating in 12 major invasions there. He also was very hesitant to talk about it in any detail. Our nation will be forever indebted to those like Bud Day - and John McCain - who have served with honor and sacrifice.

John Kerry said "Reporting For Duty"

Al Gore said "I am not Noble...I am Nobel"

Bill Clinton said "Reporting for Booty"

John McCain said..."I am not reporting for duty...I have been doing my duty for 50 years."
