The relationship between Barack Obama and unrepentant terrorist William Ayers (pictured at right) appears to be even more involved than we already knew. Papers just released by the University of Illinois-Chicago, after much public pressure, show that Obama and Ayers collaborated as members of the board of the Woods Fund to funnel money to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ and the Arab American Action Network - founded by Rashid Khaldidi who supported Yassir Arafat and the Palestinians against Israel.
In fact, by 1997 Obama and Ayers were collaborators on a far more significant level. They sat together for several years on the board of the Woods Fund, a left-wing Chicago charitable organization. There, they doled out tens of thousands of dollars to such beneficiaries as the Trinity Church (where Obama was a longtime member and where another Obama mentor, Jeremiah Wright, preached a radical, anti-American brand of Black Liberation Theology) and the Arab American Action Network (co-founded by Rashid Khalidi, a Yasser Arafat apologist who has supported attacks against Israel and now directs Columbia University’s notorious Middle East Institute, founded by Edward Said).
National Review Online has an extensive article on this relationship. They are just beginning to review the papers released. I feel certain there will be much more about this radical relationship come to the surface.
Politico.com is reporting that he Barack Obama campaign is trying desperately to keep an ad (see the ad) off the air that reveals his link with unrepentant domestic terrorist, William Ayers (pictured at right):
Obama’s campaign has written the Department of Justice demanding a criminal investigation of the “American Issues Project,” the vehicle through which Dallas investor Harold Simmons is financing the advertisements. The Obama campaign — and tens of thousands of supporters — also is pressuring television networks and affiliates to reject the ads. The effort has met with some success: CNN and Fox News are not airing the attacks. . . .
The Obama campaign plans to punish the stations that air the ad financially, an Obama aide said, organizing his supporters to target the stations that air it and their advertisers.
But the ad continues to air widely. Evan Tracey, who tracks campaign advertising at TNS Media Intelligence, said it has been broadcast 150 times in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Michigan. Federal Election Commission reports indicate that Simmons has spent more than $2.8 million buying ads.
Obama’s campaign has written a pair of letters to station managers carrying the ads.
The letter calls the ad’s attempt to link Obama to terrorism “an appalling lie, a disgraceful smear of the lowest kind on the senator’s patriotism and commitment to the rule of law.”
Airing the ad “is inconsistent with your station’s obligations under Federal Communications Commission regulations,” the letter continues, saying Simmons’ group lacks formal incorporation.
No, the ad is "inconsistent" with the Obama Campaign's talking points and with their attempt to pass Obama off as an average guy, rather than the radical that he is.

Here is a new ad put out by the American Issues Project about Barack Obama's association with unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. Obama began his political career in Chicago in the home of Ayers, who held a fundraiser for him.

WASHINGTON -- With that, Obama identified the new public enemy: the "distractions" foisted upon a pliable electorate by the malevolent forces of the status quo, i.e., those who might wish to see someone else become president next January. "It's easy to get caught up in the distractions and the silliness and the tit for tat that consumes our politics" and "trivializes the profound issues" that face our country, he warned sternly. These must be resisted.
Why? Because Obama understands that the real threat to his candidacy is less Hillary Clinton and John McCain than his own character and cultural attitudes. He came out of nowhere with his autobiography already written, then saw it embellished daily by the hagiographic coverage and kid-gloves questioning of a supine press. (Which is why those "Saturday Night Live" parodies were so devastatingly effective.)
Then came the three amigos: Tony Rezko, the indicted fixer; Jeremiah Wright, the racist reverend; William Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist. And then Obama's own anthropological observation that "bitter" working-class whites cling to guns and religion because they misapprehend their real class interests. read more »

Appearing today on ABC News' This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Sen. John McCain took off the gloves today and hit Barack Obama hard for his relationship with unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers. McCain said that issue was "open to question," which would seem to indicate it is on the table as in issue for the fall campaign.
