Siena Polls
Here is a stunning poll that shows just how strong John McCain may be in the coming General Election this Fall. The latest Siena College Research Poll finds John McCain within 7 points of both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in -- New York! That is truly remarkable since New York is the state where Clinton is Senator and is considered a virtual sure thing for Democrats in a General Election. For McCain to just put New York in play this Fall would be huge, forcing Democrats to expend time and resources defending their home turf. It also likely means McCain can put many other "Blue States" into play, making true on his pledge to wage a 50-State Campaign this Fall. This is a very good sign for Republicans!
NEW YORK
49% Hillary Clinton
42% John McCain
47% Barack Obama
40% John McCain
The latest poll from the Siena College Research Institute has Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton continuing to lead Republican John McCain in New York state in a prospective presidential showdown.
The poll of registered voters finds Clinton favored by 49 percent while McCain is the choice of 42 percent. Clinton's rival for the Democratic nomination--Barack Obama--also leads McCain, 47 percent to 40 percent.
Neither Clinton nor Obama broke the 50-percent threshold among respondents who were asked who they would vote for if the election were held today.
