off-shore drilling

For 25 years, we have had an unrealistic energy policy, based more upon Left Wing myths than common sense facts. This approach has led to decreased domestic drilling, and decreased domestic supply.

The results speak for themselves: higher gas prices and an over-dependence on foreign production.

Because of these policies, we are sending over $700 billion dollars a year overseas to Foreign Countries. As Boone Pickens says, this is the largest transfer of wealth in human history.

Liberals have always had a special affinity for wealth transfer programs. But they have usually focused on programs that transfer wealth from the American people to our Federal Government. Now, however, their energy policy is responsible for transferring massive amounts of wealth from American citizens to the citizens and Governments of foreign oil producers.

This transfer of American wealth overseas must stop. We need a new energy policy. One that that leads to energy independence.

Barack Obama says we must choose between off shore drilling and protecting the environment. This a false choice and I am sure he knows it.

With modern American technology, I believe we can drill off shore and still protect the environment.

When it comes to increased drilling for oil, we need to drill here, drill safely and drill now in order to create jobs, increase supply, lower the price of gas, and keep more of our money here in America.

I have noticed that one of Senator Obama’s favorite campaign slogans is “Yes, We can.” But when it comes to offshore drilling, nuclear power, clean coal, oil shale and energy independence his position is “No, We Can’t.”

The United States needs to get a new energy policy based upon a philosophy of Yes WE Will. Americans have to demand of their elected representatives that we increase offshore drilling, nuclear power, clean coal, natural gas, oil shale, wind, solar, biofuels and anything else to get us off OPEC oil. We need a national program of Energy Independence: “Yes, We Will.”

We need a new agenda that utilizes our nation’s abundant natural resources in a smart, strategic and safe manner.

We have to come together as Americans, across party lines and demand that energy independence be a gift we leave to future generations of Americans.
