Palin Interview with Gibson
Hollywood insider and Newsmax contributor James Hirsen tells TV correspondent Ashley Martella that the actual transcript of ABC'S interview of Sarah Palin does not match the broadcast itself. He suspects ABC substituted other Palin answers for questions that she had good answers for in an effort to make her look bad. Hear his detailed explanation of what ABC did after the Charlie Gibson interview.

We knew it from watching the Sarah Palin interview with Charles Gibson over the past two days. It was incredibly biased against Palin in terms of the tone, the questions, the lead-in pieces on 20/20 -- everything. Now The Anchoress has done a fantastic job of comparing and contrasting the way Charles Gibson interviewed Barack Obama three months ago, and how he chose to interview Gov. Sarah Palin:
Even the camera angle was designed to be prejudiced against Palin. She is filmed from the side and slightly with her back to the camera. …In contrast, the film crew placed the long shot camera facing Obama so at all times when he is speaking the camera looks him in the face rather than looking at his back.
…Obama was asked much easier questions mostly about feelings about winning, breaking the glass ceiling and 2008 campaign decisions. In contrast, Palin was asked numerous specific policy and military strategy questions that required extensive knowledge about treaties, U.S. anti-terrorism strategy and world history. And Gibson misquoted Palin… The following is a breakdown of the questions asked of the nominees:
Obama interview:
How does it feel to break a glass ceiling?
How does it feel to “win”?
How does your family feel about your “winning” breaking a glass ceiling?
Who will be your VP?
Should you choose Hillary Clinton as VP?
Will you accept public finance?
What issues is your campaign about?
Will you visit Iraq?
Will you debate McCain at a town hall?
What did you think of your competitor’s [Clinton] speech?Palin interview:
Do you have enough qualifications for the job you’re seeking? Specifically have you visited foreign countries and met foreign leaders?
Aren’t you conceited to be seeking this high level job?
Questions about foreign policy
-territorial integrity of Georgia
-allowing Georgia and Ukraine to be members of NATO
-NATO treaty
-Iranian nuclear threat
-what to do if Israel attacks Iran
-Al Qaeda motivations
-the Bush Doctrine
-attacking terrorists harbored by Pakistan
Is America fighting a holy war? [misquoted Palin]There’s no doubt the Charles Gibson interviews showed extreme prejudice against Palin and extreme favoritism towards Obama…He constantly questioned her ability to lead but never questioned Obama’s ability to lead, all the more amazing considering that Palin was the only one with executive experience and the presidency is the highest level executive job in politics.

Here is video of Gov. Sarah Palin's interview with Charles Gibson that ran on ABC's 20/20 last night. ABC did such a cut and paste job on this interview that it is impossible to only post new portions of the interview. Much of parts one and two contain what has already been posted, with a few portions of new material interspersed. Part 3 is new material not previously posted. As a whole, the interview was clearly a "hitpiece" in my opinion. Gibson had a condescending attitude for the most part, and did everything he could to ask "gotcha" questions. At times he sounded like an apologist for the Obama Campaign.
Exit Question: When have you ever seen Barack Obama give a two-day interview; and when have you ever heard the media ask him hard and detailed questions?

Here is the third and fourth parts of Charlie Gibson's interview with Gov. Sarah Palin which aired tonight on World News Tonight. Gibson continued in "gotcha" mode, not really wanting to get to know who Sarah Palin is, but trying every conceivable angle to trip her up.

Here is video of the 2nd Interview done by ABC News' Charles Gibson with Gov. Sarah Palin. It aired on Nightline last night, September 11, 2008, as a closing segment. Earlier in the broadcast they had repeated essentially the 1st interview with Palin, which had aired earlier in the evening on World News Tonight.

UPDATE: Gibson's 2nd Interview with Sarah Palin will air tonight at 11:35 PM EDT on ABC's Nightline. Here are excerpts from that interview.
Politico.com has begun posting a "final score" each day to characterize "who won the day" - Obama or McCain. Today, they believe McCain won the day, largely because Sarah Palin "appears to have held her own" in her first big interview with Charles Gibson:
7:47 p.m.: Final score: McCain wins the dayBy: John F. Harris and Jim Vandehei
Today was a pretty low-key day, politically, so neither candidate gained or lost too much ground. But Sarah Palin confronted a major obstacle in her interview with Charlie Gibson - her first one-on-one as a vice presidential candidate - and appears to have held her own. It remains to be seen whether her opponents will find useful fodder in this interview, but at the very least she didn't deviate from the campaign message. McCain also held a successful event this morning in Pennsylvania - in a largely non-political news cycle, he didn't need to do much else.
The quieter news cycle could turn out to be helpful for Obama. His campaign has seemed off-balance during the last few days, so it was helpful for him to have a slower day to let the arguments of the week subside. Obama’s lunchtime meeting with Bill Clinton also produced a decent bit of good news for his campaign, with Clinton confidently predicting victory in November. But the big political story of the day was Palin, who seemed to avoid catastrophe in her interview.
This is a good sign that even the mainstream media knows there was nothing in this interview they can really use against Palin. She did a fine job and got through a big moment without doing harm. There will be many more challenges, but she is not going to melt away, much to the consternation of the Democrats.

Second Portion
Here is video of the first interview Sarah Palin did with ABC News' Charles Gibson, September 11, 2008. Other interviews will follow later tonight and tomorrow.

It appears Gov. Sarah Palin has completed her first interview with ABC News Charles Gibson. It sounds like she did well, although you have to wait and see what ABC News does with the tape in putting the report together:
First on TVNewser: Insiders tell us the first Charlie Gibson/Sarah Palin interview is complete. The first sit-down lasted 30 minutes and included questions about energy independence, foreign affairs and whether Gov. Palin is ready to be Vice President. "Absolutely," is her response. When asked if she is ready to step in and be president of the United States. Palin answers, "You bet."
We're told Gibson asked for two extra minutes and used it to ask Palin whether she agrees with the "Bush Doctrine." Among Palin's responses:
• "The top priority is to defend the United States of America. I know that John McCain would do that."
• "With new leadership comes opportunity to do things better."
• "War has got to be a last option."
• "If a strike is imminent we have every right to defend our country...and that's what a McCain/Palin administration would do."
• "In order to stop Islamic extremists we must do whatever it takes. We must not blink, Charlie."
UPDATE: Here's more from ABC News:
The following three excerpts are from the ABC News exclusive interview with Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in Fairbanks, Alaska, conducted by "World News" anchor Charlie Gibson on September 11, 2008.
Sarah Palin on Experience:
GIBSON: Governor, let me start by asking you a question that I asked John McCain about you, and it is really the central question. Can you look the country in the eye and say "I have the experience and I have the ability to be not just vice president, but perhaps president of the United States of America?"
PALIN: I do, Charlie, and on January 20, when John McCain and I are sworn in, if we are so privileged to be elected to serve this country, will be ready. I'm ready.
GIBSON: And you didn't say to yourself, "Am I experienced enough? Am I ready? Do I know enough about international affairs? Do I -- will I feel comfortable enough on the national stage to do this?"
PALIN: I didn't hesitate, no.
GIBSON: (INAUDIBLE -- Didn't that take some hubris?)
PALIN: I -- I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink.
So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate.
Sarah Palin on God:
GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?
PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote.
GIBSON: Exact words.
PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words.
But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side.
That's what that comment was all about, Charlie.
