Orson Swindle
Democrats have decided in their infinite wisdom that John McCain should not speak of his 5 1/2 years in captivity as a POW. It's as if they believe they have a right to decide when a man can talk about his own life. But it is his life -- and it is not their right to decide.
Now some of John McCain's fellow POWS are speaking out on his behalf. Here is a video report about one of the men who went through the nightmare of captivity alongside John McCain - literally. Col. Orson Swindle shared a cell with McCain for 18 months. In this interview, he speaks of the toughness of John McCain and why he believes McCain must be elected the next President . . .(Click Read More to see the video - video will begin automatically) read more »

It appears to be desperation time for Barack Obama supporters who are pulling out all the dirty stops today to cover-up and obscure the mangling Obama received at the hands of John McCain at the Rick Warren "Civil Forum on the Presidency" Saturday.
You've already heard about the claim McCain cheated - which has been debunked by Byron York who discovered that actually it was Obama who had more prior knowledge of questions than McCain.
Now comes the left-wing Obama nutjobs questioning whether McCain had made-up his touching story about a Vietnamese guard loosening his bonds during a session of rope torture and later drawing a cross in the dirt. These slimeballs have suggested McCain "lifted" the story from Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the Soviet dissident who told a similar story of a guard who helped him and drew a "cross" as a sign that he was a fellow Christian. Well, Byron York comes to the rescue again. He called Orson Swindle, who was a fellow POW with McCain, and found out McCain was telling that story as far back as 1971!
You've probably seen that there are some out there in the blogosphere questioning the authenticity of John McCain's "cross in the dirt" story, which McCain told Saturday night at the Saddleback Summit. But there doesn't seem much mention of the fact that McCain had a lot of fellow POWs in Vietnam, and they can be asked for their recollections. So I called Orson Swindle, a fellow POW who is campaigning for McCain, to ask him about it.
"I recall John telling that story when we first got together in 1971, when were talking about every conceivable thing that had ever happened to us when we were in prison" Swindle told me a few minutes ago. "Most of us had been kept apart or in small groups. Then, in 1970, they moved us into the big cell. And when we all got to see each other and talk to each other directly, instead of tapping through walls, we had 24 hours a day, seven days a week to talk to each other, and we shared stories. I vaguely recall that story being told, among other stories."
"I remember it from prison," Swindle continued. "There were several stories similar to that in which guards — a very few, I might add — showed compassion to the prisoners. It was rare, and I never met one, but some of the guys did."
As for the people who are questioning McCain's account, Swindle said, "That's garbage. These people are desperate."
Desperate it right! How stupid can you be! To suggest that a guard drawing the sign of the cross meant it had to happen to EITHER McCain or Solzhenitsyn shows a complete lack of understanding of the Christian faith. The sign of the cross has been a way for persecuted believers to communicate silently with each other for 2000 years! You read of it often in stories of Christians facing persecution the world over. Yet these vile Obama supporters, in their attempt to prop up a candidate who bombed dramatically in comparison to John McCain, try to say that a man who suffered for America for 5 1/2 years is making it up. The truth is - when it comes to lame attacks, you really could not " make up" the things Obama's supporters are now coming up with.

Thirty-Five years ago, John McCain was released from a Vietnam prisoner camp. He was captured and held captive in the "Hanoi Hilton" after he was shot down flying for the Navy in 1967. This video featuring Orson Swindle, McCain's mom, and others, looks back at the time.
