Obama the Radical
Tony Blankley writes today about Barack Obama's past campaigns for State Senate in Illinois and for Senator from Illinois. He makes the point that Obama has run some questionable and perhaps shady campaigns and that it is John McCain's duty to inform the American public of Obama's character and his radical affiliations.
Obama's first election was described recently by Martin Fletcher, a foreign correspondent for NBC News, in the British newspaper The Times (not on NBC): "Mr Obama won a seat in the state senate in 1996 by the unorthodox means of having surrogates successfully challenge the hundreds of nomination signatures that candidates submit. His Democratic rivals, including Alice Palmer, the incumbent, were all disqualified." Hmm.
Obama's election to the U.S. Senate was even more curious, as described by Gerard Baker in the Irish Independent: "Two exquisitely timed divorces smoothed the way.
"In the Democratic primary, he was a long shot. But a month before the election, his main opponent, Blair Hull, a wealthy Chicago futures trader, was forced to publish divorce papers that revealed, among other charming details, his wife's claim that he had once threatened to kill her.
"In the general election, lightning struck again. His opponent, the engaging Jack Ryan, had run a campaign as a different sort of Republican. But a few months before the election, his divorce papers revealed that, while he might have been a different sort of Republican, he was from precisely the same stable of Obama political opponents. He had, it turned out, once tried to force his former wife to go with him to sex clubs in Paris."
Was Obama really the innocent beneficiary of these rare events? Anything is possible. But when a fellow deals himself two royal flushes in a row, the other players are entitled to be suspicious. Moreover, when a politician is suspected of hypocrisy, the Washington press corps usually is supercharged in its efforts to prove their suspicions. But despite the fact that these bare outlines of Obama's elections are pregnant with the implications that he has gained every office he has sought so far by underhanded and sordid means -- while posing as a Gary Cooper-like idealist in a corrupt political world -- the American media have let these extraordinary events simply pass without significant comment.
It looks to me that Obama had folks out there working on clearing him a path to each election. You can bet there are more this time. Let's hope Senator McCain comes out swinging tonight. For him not to make light of Obama's radical associations with the likes of Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, as well as ACORN, would flat out be a dereliction of duty.

Over at National Review, Stanley Kurtz blows the lid off of Barack Obama's relationship with his radical friends pastor Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and a radical Afrocentric movement which should really get the attention of voters. It's a pretty long piece that's well worth the read. Here's an excerpt. McCain campaign, please take note.
It looks like Jeremiah Wright was just the tip of the iceberg. Not only did Barack Obama savor Wright’s sermons, Obama gave legitimacy — and a whole lot of money — to education programs built around the same extremist anti-American ideology preached by Reverend Wright. And guess what? Bill Ayers is still palling around with the same bitterly anti-American Afrocentric ideologues that he and Obama were promoting a decade ago. All this is revealed by a bit of digging, combined with a careful study of documents from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the education foundation Obama and Ayers jointly led in the late 1990s.
John McCain, take note. Obama’s tie to Wright is no longer a purely personal question (if it ever was one) about one man’s choice of his pastor. The fact that Obama funded extremist Afrocentrists who shared Wright’s anti-Americanism means that this is now a matter of public policy, and therefore an entirely legitimate issue in this campaign.
Please pass this piece on to all you know. Folks need to get an idea of just where Obama is coming from and the folks that he chose to surround himself with.
If all voters have a good understanding of Barack Obama's relationship with folks like Ayers and Wright, as well as groups like Acorn, he will not win this election!

Peter Kirsanow at The Corner has does an outstanding job of setting forth clear evidence that Barack Obama is the living definition of a "radical." Just read through the list compiled by Kirsanow to support the fact that Barack Obama is truly THE most liberal, radical politician to ever seek the Presidency. Most of this we already knew, but somehow seeing it compiled together so succinctly drives the point home:
Last night on one of the talking head shows Dick Morris casually stated that Obama is not a radical. Perhaps not. But consider that according to recent polling, Obama's positions on the following issues are opposed by a median of 76% of respondents:
* Obama supports giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants
* Obama supports racial preferences in public employment, contracting and school admissions
* Obama opposes a ban on partial birth abortions
* Obama would cut funding for research and development of "unproven" missile defense systems
* Obama opposes making English the official language for doing business with the U.S. government
* Obama opposes the Supreme Court decisions prohibiting racial assignments of grade school children
* Obama opposes parental notification for minors obtaining abortionsMoreover, Obama
* would talk without precondition with the leaders of state sponsors of terror
* is the only U.S. senator to vote against the language of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act
* supports giving foreign terrorists habeas rights
* contends William Ayers is a mainstream member of the community
* for twenty years belonged to a church whose pastor, Obama's mentor, was prone to making, well, somewhat radical statements
* plans to raise payroll, income, capital gains and estate taxes
* despite recent rhetoric, never opposed a gun ban
* has received the following ratings:NARAL — 100%
NEA — A
ACORN — 100%
Planned Parenthood — 100%
National Taxpayers Union — F
Family Research Council — 0%
Citizens Against Government Waste — 13%
NRA — FObama may not be a radical, but the National Journal's assessment that he's the most liberal member of the U.S. senate is well-deserved. Nonetheless, I'd like to know how Morris defines "radical."
