Nancy Pelosi

Did Nancy Pelosi intentionally throw the vote to get Obama elected? You know that when you read the morning WSJ article and they took the words right out of your mouth, you are onto something....

Last night I wrote to a friend of mine who was leaning toward an Obama vote, hesitantly, but mostly because she always voted Democratic. In our conversation, I told her that connecting John McCain with George Bush to try to define what a McCain administration would be like was a dishonest ploy that will hurt the American people if it succeeds. If people would put aside their "party favors" and look at what is really going on here, by analyzing the activities that took place in regards to the handling of this bill, they would see once and for all that like the honorable soldier he is, John McCain put his COUNTRY FIRST...he may even have blown the election in order to make sure the RIGHT bill went forth in Congress.

So I said:

"Well if ya' want the bill to pass, you don't give them only 12 hours on a Sunday night to review 106 pages and then get all potty mouth in the morning when they gather to vote. I am pondering tonight why she did everything she could to let it fail...probably so they could all gather and say it was John's failure to lead. If it had passed the House Republicans, he sure would have looked better for his efforts."

This morning when I read an article in the Wall Street Journal, I nearly spit out my coffee when I read this line:

"The cynics are saying Ms. Pelosi deliberately tanked the bill by giving 95 Democrats a pass, knowing failure would hurt John McCain, and given her track record we can see why people would believe it."

We may be onto something here.

Barack Obama, coming off his poor performance at the Rick Warren Forum, guaranteed on Sunday that "I will win" the election. He made the guarantee to a crowd of Democratic donors in California. He was also hailed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a blessing from God at this time:

“I will win. Don’t worry about that,” he said to the crowd of about 1,300 at his third event of the evening, according to the pool report.

He was warmly received by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called him "a leader that God has blessed us with at this time."

These statements are an already written script for another great McCain Ad!

Newt Gingrich is praising House Republicans for their revolt against the "Do-Nothing" on Energy Prices Democrats in Congress. Gingrich is urging them to continue to stand strong for increased domestic oil drilling to combat high gas prices. He also called Speaker Nancy Pelosi's leadership in preventing an up or down vote on the issue a "petty dictatorship."

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Tuesday applauded the House Republican energy protest, calling it the first “serious energizing revolt we’ve seen since the early 1990s.”

“I’m very proud of House Republicans,” Gingrich told a group of GOP activists gathered for a state and local summit organized by GOPAC, a Republican political action committee he once headed.

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) has taken on the House GOP mantra of “drill here, drill now, pay less” and is using it on the presidential campaign trail, and the message stands in stark contrast to Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) advice to consumers to combat high prices at the pump by making sure their tires are inflated properly, Gingrich said.

Obama’s message translates to “inflate here, inflate now, avoid reality,” he remarked.

Gingrich plans to meet with House Republicans Wednesday morning to discuss their continued protest of Democratic leaders’ decision to recess Congress without holding a vote on legislation expanding drilling.

House Republicans’ mock sessions on the House floor, which they’ve been holding without microphones or C-SPAN coverage since Congress officially adjourned last week, have made national headlines. And Republicans have pledged to continue the floor speeches on energy throughout the week and possibly up until the Democratic convention later this month.

Gingrich referred to a new poll conducted by Dave Winston that found that three out of four Americans believe that Congress should vote on a bill expanding drilling.

He also blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for adjourning Congress and shutting down the power to the microphones on the House floor instead of allowing Republicans to speak out about the need for more drilling.

He said that decision shows that she is running a “petty dictatorship.”

“During the energy fight, she cut off the energy to the House floor so [members] couldn’t talk about energy,” he said.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are set to resume their Floor Protest on American Energy today at 10:00 AM EDT at the Capitol. Here is a press release issued yesterday by House Republican Leader John Boehner, in which he calls Republican members to return to the Capitol on Monday to resume the protest. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi adjourned the House for the rest of the month on Friday, ordered the lights turned out, and cameras shut off to keep Americans from hearing Republicans calling for increased domestic oil production through offshore drilling:

House Republicans will be back on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives again Monday to continue the unprecedented protest that began last Friday, when dozens of Republicans joined hundreds of American citizens on the House floor to protest Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) decision to send Congress home for the rest of the summer without a vote on legislation to lower gas prices and move America toward energy independence.

In an urgent memo sent to GOP Members and staff Saturday (“A Call to Action on American Energy”), Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) hailed Friday’s action, which was led by Reps. Mike Pence (R-IN), Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), Tom Price (R-GA), and others, and encouraged House Republicans to return to the Capitol beginning Monday morning to help keep the historic effort going.

“It’s not a request we make lightly. But the American people are suffering,” Boehner and Blunt said in the memo. “The consequences of continued congressional inaction on gas prices are unacceptable. We’ve called on the Speaker to call Congress back into an emergency session this month and schedule a vote on the American Energy Act. We must continue to make a stand until the Speaker complies.”

“We realize not everyone can be in Washington next week. But if you can be, we ask that you come to the Capitol, join our colleagues, and lend your voice, beginning this Monday at 10:00 am,” the GOP leaders wrote. “If you can’t be in Washington, we ask that you contribute to the cause in other ways – such as spreading the word among your constituents, writing an op-ed for your local newspaper, or taking our ‘all of the above’ energy message to your local airwaves.”

“Republicans stand with the American people. We share their passion and determination for energy independence, and we’ve pledged to fight boldly until Congress heeds their will,” Boehner and Blunt concluded.

This is a new ad put out by the National Republican Congressional Committee on the failure of Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat Congress to accomplish anything - particularly on high gas prices.

Well Nancy, I would suggest you have quite a task at hand - being the "great uniter." The question is where do you start? The media's question to you is, "How to unite the party?" More specifically, my question to you is, "How do you unite the electorate?"

Hillary has blown the cover and roof off the DNC Rules Committee. If things were going a little better for her, she may not have, but this is her last stand. Now your major problem, Nancy, is to explain all this to your electorate - your electorate who braved the elements to make this 2008 primary season one of the highest voter turnout in recent history. You would have to explain to confused and baffled American voters where in the constitution it gives the DNC Rules Committee the authority to deny Florida and Michigan voters the right to have their delegates seated at the convention. Denied because they had to have their knuckles smacked hard for setting their primary dates when they did.

But you can assure them that your DNC Rules Committee split the baby on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Never mind the electoral vote - that never really counted anyway, did it? No, somehow the DNC Rules Committee found a way to "almost" split the delegates in both states - EVEN a state in which Obama's name was not on the ballot, Michigan.  read more »
