Wikipedia, for all of its faults, defines paternalism as "the quality of being paternal, i.e. like a father, e.g. characterized by behaving in benevolent and yet intrusive manner towards underlings."

People who have called themselves liberal since the late sixties, found it necessary to paternalize those who would comprise their constituents, or underlings.

Neo-liberal, as opposed to classical liberal, philosophy emphasized that people were not directly responsible for their own prosperity and well-being, but that the "establishment" had this obligation. The Neo-Liberals further defined classes of their constituents or underlings, such as ethnic-Americans, LGBT, and other "victims", thus relieving them of the responsibility for their own happiness and prosperity. Furthermore, Neo-Liberals taught this taxonomy to thoughtful young people who were in their care, and under color of their professorial authority, without the benefit of also teaching these students the lessons of Locke, Hayek, Smith or even Friedman.

Rather, these students’ emotions and good intentions were exploited by these professors to enforce their own notions of Democrat paternalism.

Indeed, Hayek wrote the Democrat Party playbook, “The Road to Serfdom”. If the party of Obama’s arrogance and expectations of underlings to fall in line was not made crystal clear during the convention week, then a generation of people may be doomed to be the serfs, the underlings, until the majority of people realize that individual liberty is far more precious then the false security of being taken care of by the machine.

How can we persuade more of the Nation's young voters to get the courage to leave the Obama Camp and join us in support of John McCain?

A lot of them think we can just pull out of Iraq and it makes no difference just like we did in Viet Nam...just yank ourselves out no matter what the consequences.

Besides everything else, we will have another huge humanitarian problem on our hands if Baghdad collapses.

The problem today is that the United States does not have an endless well of 'national credit' to draw from to magically 'fix' the problems that it creates.

It has spent billions in Iraq with financed money, the cost of gas is flying through the roof, environmentalists back home in places like Alaska have retarded the production of domestic oil, the enemy has gotten inside the gates, our domestic economy is stalling, the world is about to go through a cataclysmic convulsion due to global warming and overpopulation, people are starving to death and running out of fresh water and are faced with flooding by salt water all over the world...and the American people want to retreat on Iraq and complain about the rising cost of fuel.  read more »

I operate on the premise, that: 'All things work together for good for those of us who love God, for those of us who are called according to his purpose.'

What is important and critical to the success or failure in Iraq or for a John McCain candidacy is in finding the right Vice Presidential candidate to accommodate him.

Someone that has proven spiritual attributes.

I am not talking about someone who thinks he is 'blessed' by name, but of someone who has demonstrated in his life some positive prophetic characteristics.

I am not talking about someone who has been blessed with a million dollars, won a national lottery or 20 elections.

This is the challenge: Find the reverse of what the 'children of mammon' look for in a political candidate, and the country will have found the right person or persons to compliment the candidacy of John McCain.  read more »

…to bring a new hope for the Nation and for the World that extends beyond the Presidency of the primary candidate and the borders of the nation…
…to provide a vision that compliments and extends the vision of the standing President…
…to bring an inspired talent that can assist the nation and the world to make the transition between the old and the new way of conducting business at home and around the world…
…to bring honesty and integrity again to the Office of the Vice Presidency…
…to introduce ‘brave new steps’ to prepare the nation and the world for the days ahead
…expecting and understanding that the future cannot be expected to get easier, but to get worse
…and having the conviction that unless the days of that suffering be lessened, no human being will be left unaffected on earth.
...to understand that the times ahead are going to get really hard for everyone.

A Good Vice President should be prepared to assist the President on many levels, even if his/her council is used only to provide momentary inspiration or insight into certain matters.

The Vice President's political stance with regards to the responsibility of his office should be ‘preemptive’ and heavily focused on disaster relief and preparedness for the Nation against catastrophic events.

A Vice President, as well as sitting the Senate, should have a cabinet or council of his own personal advisors that are in his trust, separate from the Office of the President. This would be the Vice President’s ‘Inner Circle’, ready to take charge in event anything happened to the Office of the President and the President’s cabinet.

Yes, John McCain does come across as a bit 'dull', but part of this impression is obviously caused by the fact that he is older than the other candidates and the other part of it may be due to physical injuries he suffered as the result of war and time spent as a P.O.W.

The way we need to see John McCain is as an ‘old warrior’ who has always been there when we needed him.

He also needs to be seen as a ‘survivor’, not only of war, but of the D.C. scene itself which often chops politicians up and then spits him out in little pieces.

The fact that John McCain has political resiliency should be of comfort to the American people who are currently burdened with economic concerns about their future.

John McCain has been our ‘steady hand’.

Although Obama is young and vigorous, he's still a ‘wild card’.

But John McCain will not need to ‘remake’ his image like Barack Obama will have to do in order to win the 2008 Election.

All we have to do with John McCain is see him as a reflection of ourselves.

John McCain is a political icon of our time. He's already a great man and already deserving the admiration and respect of every American. He's already the embodiment of what our hopes and aspirations should be in every American who serves in Washington, D.C.  read more »
