conservative
This is my first blog post. I'm sure I am a conservative.
I voted for Reagan, Bush, Perot (ooops), Dole, Bush, Bush (the alternative sucked). I was a registered Republican until early 2007.
I know Bush is doing exactly what he said he was going to do but I think he should have been more flexible. I don't mean with Democrats, but his approach in general. He's history, so no point in in discussing him.
Here's how I see things now:
Obama as president, especially with both houses is a big mistake.
I was supporting Fred until he fizzled. I wasn't going to vote this year, I was losing interest in politics.
Palin changed that. I didn't know much about her other than she was republican, attractive and well spoken. Her acceptance speech was awesome, maybe just a little snarky at times. I can't wait to see her speaking off the cuff. I hope she does as well. Eye contact with the camera in healthy doses. Gretas' show doesn't count. Doesn't hurt either.
Her record as a mayor and governor sounds great, with a few caveats. One I caught was John's appearance where he referred to Sarah and the jet. She put it on ebay, not sold. As to making a profit, not so much. Murkowsi paid around 2.6 million, it was sold for 2.1. He may have paid too much for it, but simple math equals a loss, Even if you are cutting your losses.
Separate note about campaign appearances:
It looks a little creepy at the joint appearances. Neither one should be in the shot while the other is speaking.
For too long America has not had a great American female role model to which young girls can aspire to emulate. During the past ten years, Hollywood's version of the good next door was a real life incarnation of the Bratz dolls: Britney, Paris and a slew of other chain smoking, anorexic, starlets who were more likely to show up on the police blotter than deliver a great commencement speech. Today's girls next door are not the wholesome American girl that reflects our nation's ideals, instead they are a realtiy show on E and have to date an 85 year old man in order to get famous.
But now, thanks to the Maverick pick of John McCain, Sarah Palin is riding to the rescue of popular culture, offering America's daughters a true role model who is confident, cool and Conservative. Someone who is as good looking as any of the vapid stick figures in Hollywood, yet has real substance and charisma.
She is the 21st Century, female version of John Wayne--pro American, good person, who can get the job done.
Now, fathers everywhere, whether liberal or conservative, have a national figure who will set a great example for the youth of America. She personifies Girl Power and is the antithesis of the type of woman put forward by Hollywood as a Star. She is the opposite of the urbane sophisticated character of Carrie Bradshaw who Hollywood wanted to be the role model for America's young women.
Liberals are going to despise Palin because she has done it her way. Liberal women had their hopes dashed when Obama retreated in fear and picked Biden over Hillary. Now, a Maverick has ridden to the rescue of the feminist cause, picking a woman who is going to bust through the glass ceiling and enter the White House as Vice President.
Sarah is the anti-Carrie Bradshaw. A devoted family woman who finds happiness through marriage and family and spends time serving the public not a self-centered, lonely woman who finds superficial happiness thru fancy shoes and snarky comments. Women like Carrie Bradshaw read the Rules, Sarah Palin makes the rules.
Her life isn't spent on an endless quest to find meaning and happiness through a string of shallow relationships. Sarah Palin found happiness through achievement, monogamy, and being true to herself and her Conservative beliefs!
What a welcome change for American pop culture. In all the great moves made by John McCain, this is the one that will have the most staying power because he has picked a woman who is going to fundamentally improve the American culture. I am a conservative today because of Ronald Reagan. MIllions of girls will be conservatives in twenty years because of Sarah Palin. This pick doesn't change only the election, it changes the path of our popular culture. Instead of moving down the path towards more coarseness and vulgarity in our society, Palin will light the culture's way to one based more upon respect and American ideals.
For too long our popular culture has failed to live up to our national character. Now, we have a chance to bring our culture back in line with our national character.
Liberal writers control Hollywood and they have created the perfect template for a female President in their minds. But now, that template has been come to life in the form of a Conservative. That is why the convention is so excited. That is why our base is fired up. Because we know Sarah's selection will transcend this election and will change the direction of our culture.

The Democrat Party, who has put party before country, has nominated the most radical left wing candidate in history. Barack Obama is a man who lacks appreciation for the rights of the individual, believes in the primacy of government, who is punitive against an economic class of Americans, who has allied himself with corrupt Democrat party apparatchiks, and militant Palestinian causes.
Barack Obama lies and obfuscates with great ease, about his record, and the history of those with whom he has let into his circle of influence.
Barack Obama has was a member of a racist, anti-Semitic church for twenty years, and stated that he could not disown his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, any more than his own grandmother, "who is a typical white person". Obama disowned his pastor when it became expedient for him to do so.
Senator McCain may not be the most conservative man running on the GOP ticket, but I assure you it is necessary to vote for him for the following reasons.
1. Supreme Court - Who ever fills the soon vacant positions on the SCOTUS will determine the fate of individual liberty and rights, and hold the government powers at bay, for at least a generation.
As evidence, I offer that the interpretation of the 2nd amendment, which is one of the most clearly articulated amendments in the constitution, was decided by a 5-4 split.
2. War on Terror - Left wingers have common cause with Islamists who desire to destroy Western Democracy. Sharia is very consistent with Marxism. The most radical left wing groups are allied with Barack Obama. The War against Islamism was NOT MENTIONED ONCE in the debates held during the Democrat primary debates.
3. The resurgence of Russian nationalism - Our new allies who have chosen freedom and capitalism in the former east block, are understandably nervous not only about Russia's intent, but the steadfastness of their sponsor, indeed the historical sponsor of liberty, the United States of America. Global power can shift swiftly, with much blood shed without the steadfastness of the strength and determination of American leadership. This could result in our country making very bloody and costly compromises with the enemies of freedom. Left-wingers, such as Obama do not understand this dynamic, and are quick to blame the United States for the transgressions of those who seek to destroy Western Democracies.
4. Iran – Persians are held hostage by an islamist theocracy who vow to make Shia the most powerful form of Islam and a dominant force in the global community. They intend to do it by threat of nuclear force, similar to Mohammed’s quest to spread his beliefs to enrich himself and his followers. Iran is an existential threat not only to reliable Western democracies like Israel, but to our Arab trading partners. Arabs may not be reliably pro-American, but the instability an Iranian adventure would cause would disrupt the world’s economies, causing suffering amongst billions of people.
5. President Bush and the Country Club Republicans who ran this country from 2001 – 2006, has indebted this country to the Chinese and the Arabs, who collectively own hundreds of billions of dollars of American debt, and have effectively removed much needed leverage to assert American diplomacy in the world. This situation needs to be reversed immediately, starting with an increase of American energy production, an increase in the value of the American dollar, and a show to the world that American has the will and the fortitude to back up our policies.
6. Obama’s headline is “America is better than this”, which implies that we are weak and deficient. The only reason for any fatigue at this point is the continuous criticism, undermining, and hysterics that have emanated from the Democrat Party and their Establishment media partners.
7. Four years of Obama would effectively disenfranchise those Americans who work hard to be productive citizens, demoralize them and remove the democratic barriers which cause unchecked government growth of power and the unfair redistribution of people’s property. We would, in fact, become closer to socialism then the Democratic Republic we are now.
